Hi, I'm Coach Phillip
Phillip Carmo
Co-Owner & Manager, Royal Gymnastics.
Born in 1990 in Englewood, New Jersey, Phillip Carmo is the oldest son of Royal Gymnastics founders and has been part of the gymnastics world since the age of 2. Though he never competed, his lifelong passion for the sport took him across continents—from flipping in our family’s ABC Olympic Gym in Rio de Janeiro, where he completed kindergarten through 3rd grade, to helping build Royal Gymnastics into the thriving community it is today.
Fluent in English and Portuguese, Phillip brings a global perspective and a unique blend of technical expertise and coaching heart. A licensed skydiver, he still loves jumping and forming mid-air patterns with his dad—proof that gravity is just a suggestion.
In 2018, Phillip partnered with us to expand Royal Gymnastics, leveraging his IT background (B.S. in Information Technology, NJIT ’17) and decades of gymnastics experience to modernize operations. He designed our website, launched the Mobile Gym program serving preschools across NJ and TX, and manages scheduling, payroll, and marketing for a team of 12. Behind the scenes, his systems keep everything running smoothly; on the floor, his high-energy classes for ages 2–10 spark joy, confidence, and skill in every child.
At Royal Gymnastics, Phillip isn’t just family—he’s the bridge between tradition and innovation, ensuring every flip, tumble, and smile is backed by safety, strategy, and a whole lot of heart.
